Defence against Viruses
Our body has a special defence mechanism against viruses. When viruses attack your body, some body cells that are infected by viruses produce a protein called interferon. This protein interferes with the reproduction of viruses in surrounding cells. Interferon protects against viral diseases, such as flu, common cold and hepatitis.
